Arthistory.CC, is a none-profit-project, driven by David Näsvik.
Arthistory.CC tries to help the younger generation by opening their eyes for art and artists
from centuries past. The main goals of Arthistory.CC is to make sure that the creation of
art survives in the future and prevent that only small group of people takes interest in
art. Arthistory.CC´s goal is to share the history of art by publishing it on the internet
and I hope that a wider audience will use this opportunity to discover the world of fine art
through Arthistory.CC!
Arthistory.CC is a community where the visitors can exchange knownledge, experience and personal opinions with each other for free. In the near future I will add more features, and even e-mail, to Arthistory.CC and will continue my work to make it the fullended community I believe it can be. |

Site content

Arthistory.CC will introduce you to all great artists during the last centuries. Today you can explore an art-collection containing over 1800 masterpieces of work, painted by the 200 most famous artists in time. On top of that you can find extensive information of every artists and about their most famous work.
I have tried to make Arthistory.CC as interesting as possible for none-experienced users, which has resulted in a timeline construction where you can surf' from early 1300 to today. There is also glossary section where you can read more about the different painting styles past times, hopefully giving an educational and interesting experience.

Technical Information
|
Arthistory.CC is running on a Dell PowerEdge 2300, with dual P-III 450 512mb RAM and 6*18.2 scsiII-hardrives. All hardware is donated, by David Näsvik The software I use are: Apache 1.3.12 as webserver, compiled with PHP. I recently upgraded the database to MySQL instead of oldfashion #-seperated perlfiles. I use Qmail as MTA/MUA, combined with Cyrus-IMAPD. The ProFTP-deamon was an easy choose as ftp-server, since it's the only good free ftp-server. Ports 21, 22 and 80 are open, so now when you know that I don't think anyone need to portscan me. All PHP-pages are made in UltraEdit, some HTML are produced with my own HTML-maker. All graphics are made in Photoshop. |
